Outlook Express

Instructions for sending plain text mail and/or turning off HTML in Outlook Express

There are two ways you can set up Outlook Express to send plain text messages.

1. - For specific addresses (such as a mailing list)
  1. Add the address to your address book.
  2. Go to Tools small arrow Address Book.
  3. Right-click the address you added.
  4. Go to Properties small arrow Name tab small arrow Check Send E-Mail using plain text only small arrow Click OK.
2. - To send plain text messages to everyone.
  1. Go to Tools small arrow Options small arrow Send tab.
  2. Under the Mail Sending Format click *Plain Text* small arrow Click OK.
  3. Go to Properties small arrow Name tab small arrow Check Send E-Mail using plain text only small arrow Click OK.

Outlook Express for Macintosh

  1. Go to Edit small arrow Preferences.
  2. If the triangle next to *Outlook Express* is not pointing down click once to change it.
  3. Go to Outlook Express heading small arrow Message Composition
  4. Under the Mail Sending Format click *Plain Text* small arrow Click OK.
  5. Make sure that "Uuencode" is elected next to *Attachment sending*.
